Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village. Established in 1975 with 7 young elephants, the pinnawala Elephant Orphanage now houses over 80 of these remarkable animals in 25 acre park dotted with coconut palms.
